La Huelga Cave
(Cangas de Onís)

Looking at the strange walls of black limestone
eroded by the power of water.

La Huelga Cave is located near the village of Nieda, 3 km. from the village of Cangas de Onís.

It is a cave with two different levels, most of the cave is horizontal with a river that runs along the cave almost all the time.

It is a cave of medium level, you need to have a first contact with caving before coming to this cave. The most exicitng moments are when you have to pass from one level to the one below and the many narrow corridors.

It also has some spectacular passages of black limestone eroded by the river that runs throuth the two leves of the cave. It is also very usual to find here different sings of live like spiders and worms, but nothing dangerous.
