Trekking through the Sueve mountain: |
This trekking route that goes through the Sueve mountain, is a medium difficulty trekking level, in which we have to overcome a 500 m. uneveness.
There is many options to trekk in this mountain, but we usually start from the Fitu viewpoint at 597 m. over sea level. From here we start walking through fairly good paths all the way up to the Piezu´s peak at 1159 m. over the sea. It is about 6 km. and will take us 2-3 hours. From the top of the peak, we can admire the great wiew over the Cantabric sea, and with good weather we can sea as far as Gijón and Llanes along the asturian coast.
In our way down, we will take a different path that will take us through a 2000 year old roman path, which will lead us to the village of Cofiño, founded by the Roman Empire to collect the Astucones wild horses, that still live in freedoom all around the Sueve mountain.
Equipment for windy and rainy weather must be brought all year around including summer months. Also:
- Small rucksack.
- Rain coat or Gore-Tex jacket.
- Medium mountain trekking shoes.
- Photo camera.
We will take care for the food, water, walking stiks and binoculars.
